Who is the food manager course meant for?
ServSafe: The ServSafe Manager Certification is for verifying that a manager or person-in-charge has enough food safety knowledge to protect the public from foodborne illness. The ServSafe Food Manager Certification exam is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) under the Conference for Food Protection Standards. The ServSafe Food Manager exam is meant for individuals in food handler employee-level positions or higher.
State Food Safety: This exam is designed for food establishment managers or persons in charge wanting to take the nationally approved Food Protection Manager Certification Exam or to fulfill a demonstration of knowledge requirement. Training is optional in most areas; check your local requirements to be sure. The exam is designed to assess the knowledge of food managers and is required for those who wish to receive their Food Safety Manager Certification.
National Registry of Food Professionals: The Food Safety Manager Certification exam assesses the knowledge and skills of entry-level food managers. It is meant for restaurant and commercial food service managers, wait staff, chefs, bartenders, hosts and hostesses, students, cooks, and shift leaders.
360Learning: This exam is meant for Food manager level employees required to be certified or wanting to expand their knowledge of Food based safety and protection.
Prometric: This exam follows the 2017 FDA Food Code to align with industry practices and certifies food safety managers by testing them on the knowledge of best food safety practices. This exam is meant for Manager level food employees and any employee wanting to expand their knowledge of food safety.

How long is the certificate valid for?

Certificates for all sites are valid for up to 5 years.

I took an exam and could not print my certificate. What do I do?

Can I make a copy of my certificate to give to my employer?

All certificates should be available online for printing, saving or copying to provide multiple certificates for the individual.

I lost my certificate. How do I get a replacement?

All certificates from passed exams should be saved in personal files or available through testing sites for replacing lost certificates.

Am I required to take a food manager exam?
|
Owners and /or staff who are at least 18 year of age and in a managerial position must successfully complete a food safety training manager program and pass an ANSI-CFP exam. All new establishments have a 90-day grace period to comply with the mandatory manager certification. During this 90-day period, the manager or person in charge must demonstrate food safety knowledge. Those exempt from this rule are:
- Retail food facilities where only commercially prepackaged food is handled and sold
- Temporary food establishments
- Bars/taverns- where only commercially prepackaged food is handled and sold
- Video lotteries- where only commercially prepackaged food is handled and sold
